Revisioning the 'Fiscal EU': Fair, Sustainable, and Coordinated Tax and Social Policies - FairTax 

Researchers based at TARC are currently participating in the "Revisioning the ‘Fiscal EU’: Fair, Sustainable, and Coordinated Tax and Social Policies – FairTax project.

Eleven universities in nine countries, including the University of Exeter, are taking part in this consortium, with the aim of producing recommendations as to how fair and sustainable taxation and social policy reforms can increase the economic stability of EU Member States.

FairTax Research at the University of Exeter

Professor Lynne Oats from TARC is leading one of the project's eight research groups - Large Business: Cooperative Compliance and the Role of Advisors (WP7). TARC Fellow Dr Dennis de Widt is working with her on this research, which is concerned with the relationship between large businesses and tax administrations.

TARC International Fellows Dr Emer Mulligan and Dr Lotta Bjorklund Larsen are also part of the consortium and are collaborating with them. The Exeter-based large business research includes the evaluation of developments in the UK, the Netherlands and Ireland.

Further Information about the FairTax Project

FairTax is a four-year cross-disciplinary research project, which is being funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme 2014-2018. It involves partners from universities and research institutes in the UK, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Austria, Czech Republic, Canada, Brazil and Ireland.

The project is being coordinated by Professor Åsa Gunnarsson, from Umeå University, and involves researchers from a wide range of disciplines, including accounting, economics, business, law, statistics, ethnography, gender studies and economic history.
