Newsletter 2023
Dear TARC friends,
I hope this message finds you well. Welcome to the summer 2023 edition of the TARC newsletter.
It has been a very active few months at TARC, with new projects, collaborations, and opportunities emerging that strengthen our role at the interface between research, policy, and practice. We are delighted to share some of these developments with you in this edition.
We are especially pleased to announce that the Centre has been awarded a legacy award from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). This distinction is both a recognition of the impact of TARC’s work to date and an encouragement for the future. It reflects the efforts of our colleagues, partners, and collaborators who have helped us build TARC into an internationally respected hub for research and dialogue on tax administration.
Of course, the past few years have not been without challenges. The pandemic inevitably caused delays to some projects, but it also underscored the importance of strong tax systems, robust institutions, and evidence-based policy. Our research agenda remains sound, and the path ahead is clearer than ever. We remain committed to our mission: to provide high-quality, independent research that can help tax administrations respond to the pressing challenges they face.
A key part of that mission is our ongoing work with tax authorities in both developed and developing countries. These partnerships are central to everything we do, and we are excited to be expanding our engagement through new workshops, training programmes, and collaborative projects.
We look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming events and to continuing the conversation about the future of tax administration. In the meantime, I wish you a healthy and restful summer.
With best regards,
Christos Kotsogiannis
Director, TARC
