Brian Erard is a Washington DC based consultant specialising in economics and statistics. He specialises in advanced analytics based on novel statistical models and data mining solutions. He has consulted on a broad range of tax policy and tax administration issues with federal and sub-national administrations in the US, Canada and abroad. In addition, he has worked on a variety of projects for private businesses and other government agencies. Dr Erard often teams up with top academics from renowned universities on larger consulting projects.
Prior to consulting, Dr Erard spent a decade in academia, first as an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Toronto, then as an Associate Professor as Carleton University, where he also served as the Director of Joint Economics Ph.D program with the University of Ottawa. Dr Erard has also spent a year as a visiting fellow at the University of Michigan Office of Tax Policy Research.
He has published extensively in academic journals and scholarly conference proceedings.
